BANGOR – Portions of downtown Bangor will be festively lit all year long thanks in part to a local business.
To keep spirits bright this winter, city streets and parkways will be lit with more than 20-thousand lights, including new, permanent bistro lighting in the Hannibal Hamlin Parkway, thanks in part to Sutherland Weston Marketing Communications.
Betsy Lundy, Downtown Coordinator for the City of Bangor says the business, along with the Downtown Bangor Partnership, is lighting up downtown for the holidays and throughout the entire year.
“We actually invested in color changing lights so we have the opportunity to change them for seasonally appropriate holidays” said Lundy “to recognize awareness months, so if it’s Alzheimer’s Awareness Month or Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we can alter the lights to reflect those colors and show our support as a community”.
According to Lundy, the new lighting will be lit earlier than normal, in hopes that people will will get in the holiday spirit and visit downtown businesses to do their holiday shopping earlier, avoiding the last minute hustle and bustle.
