The Super Mario Bros. Movie three-peats with $58.2 million

The Super Mario Bros. Movie continues to dominate the domestic box office, grabbing an estimated $58.2 million in its third week of release. The video game adaptation — starring the voices of Chris PrattJack BlackSeth RogenCharlie Day and Anya Taylor-Joy — has earned a total of $434.33 million domestically and $871 million worldwide.

Evil Dead Rise settled for a second place finish in its opening weekend, conjuring up an estimated $23.5 million in its opening weekend. The horror film added an estimated $16.8 million overseas and $40.3 million globally.

Guy Ritchie‘s The Covenant, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, debuted in third place with an estimated $6.3 million.

Landing in fourth place was John Wick: Chapter 4, delivering and estimated $5.7 million. Its five-week North American total now stands at $168.8 million — already topping the first and second chapters and closing in on Parabellum‘s $171 million. Chapter 4 is already the franchise’s highest-grossing film worldwide.

Rounding out the top five was Ben Affleck‘s Air, earning an estimated $5.5 million in its third week of release. Its domestic gross currently stands at $41.3 million and $68.4 million worldwide.
